Certificate presentation
Pupils and parents of Westover
Green School were delighted to be joined for a special assembly
by Pat Hunt the High Sheriff of Somerset and Mike King of
Somerset’s Children’s University.
Through the Children’s University
out of school learning is highly valued. Westover pupils have
been collecting stamps in their passports for every hour of
additional learning undertaken. The clubs range from school
organised activities such as gymnastics, football, athletics,
dance and drama to externally linked providers and opportunities
such as boxing, martial arts, Irish dancing, music tuition,
YMCA activities, Fyne Court family days etc.
In the picture are pupils who
have received awards for 30 hours (Bronze), 50 hours (Silver)
and 100 hours (Gold). When a gold award is achieved then just
like the Olympics pupils can strive for another.
Acting Head teacher Jason Eveleigh
says ‘It is always good to welcome prestigious visitors to
help celebrate the children’s personal achievements, dedication
to practice, their clubs and the different opportunities in
which they have participated.’
