- Farewell to Judith
Brown,
February 2008
On
27th February a number of past pupils, staff, parents and
governors held a farewell tea party for Judith Brown, who
retired at the end of February after working at the school
for twenty six years. There was a lot of laughter as pupils
shared their memories of working with Judith and looked back
on some of the old photographs - how we have all changed!
I have worked with Judith for
twenty two years now and we are even interchangeable according
to some children, who still have trouble remembering who's
who! We have seen many children blossom over the years and
we have always been a great team. I have greatly valued her
support and wisdom over the years as well as the many lighter
moments that go with the job.
Judith has nurtured many anxious
children and parents through school, drying their tears and
reassuring their families when they first made the journey
to Westover Green in their early years, and finally seeing
them on their way to secondary school at the end of years
six, as confident, independent pupils able to cope with all
their new challenges.
The role of the Resource Base
has changed over the last few years, but the necessary skills
for supporting the pupils remain the same, Judith adapted
to the new demands of the job, and followed children into
secondary school in an outreach role. We shall all miss her
and wish her well in her retirement, but hope she will keep
in touch and pop in from time to time.
We are very lucky to have Chris
Phillips, who has been working with us for several years on
a part time basis, taking Judith's place and I look forward
to developing our outreach role with her.
Thank you Judith for all your
hard work and enjoy your well deserved break.
